The Brambling Boys have enjoyed playing music together for years and years. They are good friends who meet regularly to share their musical interests.
Much of the Brambling Boys' repertoire originates from Kevin's vast and eclectic collection of songs spanning multiple decades. He enjoys a wide range of music, adding much variety to the band's performances. Kevin capably captures the vocal characteristics of the original artists when singing lead and is remarkably adaptable switching between genres in his guitar playing. Jim's traditional fiddle tunes from the East Coast, the Prairies, Great Britain and the USA are scattered throughout the group's presentations. He also enjoys adding vocal harmonies and fiddle riffs to featured songs. Jim sings Stan Rogers' numbers, sea shanties, plus old favourites he's gathered over time. Bob brings a dynamic element to the musical mix singing Irish ballads and well loved folk songs. He keeps the band on track with a powerful, steady beat on the washtub bass with many variations in tempo. To add colour to character pieces Bob introduces the rhythm sticks. Ron augments performances with occasional mandolin fills and accordion breaks. He oftentimes acts as the band's goodwill ambassador charming audience members. |
